Location Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Year 2019 Client Royal Court Type Institutional entrance — protocol level My role Concept design · Planting design · Hardscape detailing · Technical documentation Software AutoCAD · SketchUp · Lumion Brief — Design the landscape setting for a state entrance where the arrival sequence carries formal and ceremonial weight. Challenge — The design had to read as dignified and permanent at vehicular approach speed, while meeting security sightline requirements and surviving Riyadh's summer with a minimal irrigation footprint. Response — I structured the approach around a symmetrical planting frame of [palm / native species] that scales the entrance without obstructing sightlines, paired with [material] hardscape selected for glare control and low thermal gain. Planting was specified entirely from drought-tolerant species, cutting long-term irrigation demand while holding the formal character year-round.
